It is difficult to say exactly what a solar panel costs as it depends on where you are getting it from, how much energy it puts out and what you need it for. Most solar panel companies can offer you a quote based on the area you have to put a solar panel and what you are looking for the solar panel to do.In general, a typical solar panel costs anywhere from 150 to 400 depending on the number of cells it has, the size and what the lifespan of the cells are.
HOW TO DETERMINE SOLAR PANEL COSTS FOR HOME
When you are looking at solar panel costs for your home, be it for solar panels or solar roof tiles, you need to average how much electricity you tend to use. This gives the solar panel company a basis for deciding how many solar panels you need to meet your energy needs. The solar panel costs will be dependent on how many panels you need as compared to how much sun you have access to. You don't want to underestimate your needs too much as then you will have to be buying electricity again which can cost you more money over time.
USING SOLAR PANEL COSTS TO DEFER MONEY FOR LATER
While installing solar panels now and bearing the costs associated with that, it will save you extensive amounts of money in the future, especially due to the fact you are no longer having to buy your electricity. You will no longer be beholden to the current electricity prices as you will be making your own power.
You also need to know if there is any sort of 'buy back' system in your state. For example, in Florida, you can power your home off your solar panel and 'bank' hours by sending extra electricity back to the grid. That means if you solar panels don't pull in enough power one day for your home, you get free electricity from the grid. This saves significant amounts of money over the years, it is a long term investment.
Other similar plans allow you to basically sell your excess, unused, energy back to the grid for money. This allows you to basically run your solar panels as a business and actually profit from them, while at the same time making your home self sufficient and not reliant on the fossil fuel energy driven companies at all.
Efficient and Best Solar Panel Costs
THE INSTALLATION OF THE SOLAR PANEL
When people give you the solar panel costs breakdown it usually includes installation. That means the company has worked in the price of the installation as a per panel cost so they can more accurately tell you your total bill before the process begins. Some states even have added tax bonuses and incentives to get people to make the conversion to solar power and save the tax on the electricity system in the state. Other states actually offer a government incentive, which basically means you get a cashback or discount bonus off the total cost of you solar energy system.
Solar panel costs might seem prohibitive out of the gate, but you need to consider the long term benefits of the project. Overall solar conversion is about the savings over years, not just what you are spending now. Companies are working hard to make solar panels more realistic in terms of price, so you can make the leap. When you think of solar panel costs as an investment in your future it works, but you do have to be planning on staying in your home for at least a few years to start to really see the benefits.

In his budget speech, Union finance minister Arun Jaitley correctly asserted that environmental degradation hurts the poor more than others. However, his assertion in the very next breath that his proposals amounted to greening the development process was pure rhetoric. The only green shoot is the doubling of the cess on coal to Rs 200 a tonne. This should give a fillip to renewables since the revenue will accrue to the National Clean Energy Fund, which has received Rs 17,000 crore since Jaitley announced a Rs 100 cess in his 2014 budget. Since one in four Indians don't access electricity, renewables offer hope.
The NDA is gung-ho about switching to these sources. By 2022, the government wants to create a capacity of 175,000 MW in this sector. The lion's share will go to solar, with 100,000 MW. India is more fortunate than its neighbour China in that it receives sunlight for many more days in the year. However, China is the world's largest investor in solar and wind energy. According to the Economic Survey, India's solar sector has grown more than a hundred times in just four years to 3,000 MW out of a total installed energy capacity of 250,000 MW. It could also generate as many as a million jobs by 2022 in project design, construction, installation and operation.
The ministry of new and renewable energy believes that the solar target can be achieved by a mix of technologies. A study by two Delhi-based think-tanks shows that roof-top panels would comprise 40% of the capacity, as will large-scale projects, while solar parks will account for the remaining 20%. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has evinced a huge interest in solar power ever since he was chief minister of Gujarat. Three years ago, he inaugurated the country's first project where panels were erected over a Narmada river canal. It was commissioned by SunEdison, a US company.
In seven years, the NDA also envisages creating an installed capacity of 60,000 MW of wind power, 10,000 MW of biomass energy and 5,000 MW from small hydroelectric projects, which are more environment-friendly than large dams.

The use of solar energy for human needs faces challenges owing to its relatively low energy intensity and intermittent availability, coupled with the constrained availability of renewable carbon and land resources. This study uses systems analysis tools to identify carbon and energy efficient transformations of solar energy for different purposes, including transportation fuels and grid-scale energy storage. These efforts have been complemented with a feasibility analysis of existing fossil-energy and other hybrid pathways.
In an era of limited fossil resources, liquid fuels from sustainably available (SA) biomass could meet the energy needs of the transportation sector. We present a method for synthesizing augmented biofuel processes, which improve biomass carbon conversion to liquid fuel (&etacarbon) compared to standalone biofuel processes by using supplemental solar energy in the form of H2, heat, and electricity. For any target &etacarbon, our method identifies a process, which is guaranteed to consume the least amount of solar energy among all competing designs, thereby minimizing the land area requirement for biofuel production. A non-convex mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model allowing for simultaneous mass, heat, and power integration, is built over a process superstructure and solved using global optimization tools. As a case study, we consider biomass thermochemical routes of gasification/Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis and fast-hydropyrolysis/hydrodeoxygenation. For &etacarbon =70-95%, the synergistic gain of the optimal integrated process is evidenced from the 28-156% lower solar energy consumption compared to augmented gasification/FT processes. To accommodate for the intermittent supply of solar heat and H, we suggest two alternative processing options: 1) flexible operation between low and high carbon recovery modes, or 2) adapting a novel energy storage concept based on the cyclic transformation between liquid carbon dioxide and a liquid carbon molecule for round the clock augmented biofuel production.
If 100% SA biomass carbon conversion via augmented processes cannot meet the demand for renewable liquid fuel, additional carbon (i.e. atmospheric CO2) and land resources must be allocated for this end use. Here, the metric of Sun-to-Fuel (STF) efficiency is shown to be useful in identifying energy and land use efficient routes for converting atmospheric CO2 to liquid fuel.
The availability of H2 is essential for the supply of fuels and chemicals in a solar economy. Using thermodynamic modeling, we estimate the achievable Sun-to-H2 (STH2) efficiency for water-splitting processes harnessing solar energy predominantly as heat. The estimated STH2 efficiencies of 35-54% for direct and two-stage (using Fe3O4/FeO) thermal water-splitting are greater than the achievable values for electrolytic or single bandgap photoelectrochemical water-splitting.
Reconciling today's energy system with the future solar economy vision demands an energy transition roadmap. For the transportation sector, we propose an energy efficient transition using compressed natural gas that eventually can be substituted with compressed methane derived from biomass. Alternatively, if liquid fuel use remains dominant, we identify synergistic processes for integrated biomass and natural gas conversion to liquid fuel during the interim period.
Smart investors are joining the "solar energy revolution", a term which Tim Flannery, Chief Commissioner of the Climate Commission coined in an article he wrote for the SBS World News website. This is a revolution, he says, which has gained such a momentum in the last few years that it has exceeded all government expectations.
In a Solar Energy report released by the Climate Commission last week, it was found that now more than 10% of Australians, or approximately 2.6 million people, use solar energy to generate power for their homes. That equates to more than 1 million rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in Australia, which dwarfs the 8,000 systems tallied back in 2007. In past government predictions, these numbers weren't expected to be reached until 2030 according to Professor Flannery who asserted, "the things that have happened in solar and in Australia weren't anticipated by anyone."
The report also showed that it isn't necessarily the wealthy who are having PV systems installed on their roofs, rather it is the residents of suburbs with a higher mortgage concentration and also people with fixed incomes such as pensioners and retirees. Homeowners continue to invest in rooftop solar systems even despite the removal of government subsidies and rebates. Due to increasingly high demand, governments can no longer afford to distribute these rebates, yet Australians are clearly realising that the future of energy is renewable. The idea of installing a system that can generate energy for the home, day and night also makes solar a popular choice.
Installing a rooftop solar PV system in the home is now more accessible than ever for Australian homeowners, with the cost of installation being less than a quarter of what it was in 2002. Switching to solar energy is no longer just an issue of global responsibility, it's also simply logical in a financial sense. The enormous decline in the cost of production of PV panels, down 80% in the last four years, has been significantly influenced by China, which invested a whopping US31.2 billion into solar energy last year. Given that China is Australia's largest trading partner, the country's investments certainly make a huge impact on the priorities of the Australian government. China's investment also means great opportunities for installers and could potentially provide a lot more long-term jobs for Australians in the PV industry.
This frenzied increase in rooftop solar installations in the last few years has marked Australia as a global pioneer in the renewable energy race, with our sunny country boasting the largest number of individual installations in the world. However, there is still much room for improvement. Australia's total installed solar energy capacity amounted to less than 8% of Germany's solar capacity last year.
With new technological breakthroughs in solar energy being made all the time and the speedy rate at which solar energy is becoming the new energy source of choice amongst Australian households, the Climate Commission predicts that solar energy will be providing one third of Australia's total energy needs by 2050. Professor Flannery envisions a future in which electricity bills are an "ancient memory" and where solar panels will "just be part of your household furniture."
