Renac Oasis Solar Academy Egypt To Build Up Solar Energy Trainers And Boost Local Renewables Potential

Press Release Berlin, 3rd of March 2014 RENAC-OASIS Solar Academy Egypt to build up solar energy trainers and boost local renewables potential The Renewables Academy (RENAC), based in Germany, and Oasis Renewable Energy (ORE), from Cairo, have established the RENAC-OASIS Solar Academy Egypt (ROSAE). In cooperation with the Egyptian Solar Energy Development Association (SEDA), ROSAE provides training courses and capacity building services for engineers, decision makers, investors, technicians, installers and non-technical professionals to develop the capacities of the solar industry in Egypt. The rational for establishing the academy came to respond to an existing and future demand for the capacity building of professionals in the field. Egypt features abundant solar resources. However, solar energy is hardly used. One of the main barriers against a sound market development is the lack of experts and trainers who can provide strong theoretical and practical training programmes. In order to tap to this potential, it is crucial to build up the capacities of professionals who will in turn contribute to ensuring the longevity of renewable energy systems and a sustainable market development. The Egyptian solar industry needs qualified installers, technicians and engineers with the competences to design, install, as well as to conduct operation and maintenance of solar thermal or photovoltaic systems. ROSAE was established to overcome this deficit by providing high quality theoretical and practical- training sessions along the value chain of solar energy. At first ROSAE offers two Train-the-Trainer programmes to build up trainers on solar thermal (13th April - 16th April and 15th June - 18th June) and photovoltaics (27th April - 30th April and 25th May - 28th May). Attendance is free of charge, except for catering contributions. The programmes take place in Cairo. Upon the successful completion, participants will receive an official certificate. RENAC and ORE are interested in a long-term collaboration with successful participants of the Train-the-Trainer seminars. Therefore, further steps include training sessions conducted by graduates of the Train-the-Trainers programmes of both technologies for engineers, technicians, installers and non-technical professionals. RENAC, based in Berlin, Germany, is one of the leading international training providers for renewable energy and energy efficiency for technicians, engineers, decision makers, investors and developers. Since the founding in January 2008, over 3,400 participants from more than 134 countries worldwide have benefited from RENAC's expertise in the technology, financing, management and market development of renewable energy and energy efficiency. RENAC has extensive experience with the successful conduction of train-the-trainer courses for various technologies and different target groups. ORE, based in Cairo, was founded in 2010, comprising the expertise of energy professionals and engineering professors operating in the renewable energy field. ORE provides education and training in the field of renewable energy, covering the themes for decision makers, consultants, engineers, installers, technicians, undergraduates and schools. ORE is the training and capacity building arm of SEDA. For further information on the project and application, please visit:http://www.renac.de/en/current-projects/solar-academy-egypt.html
